The driver picked up the man near the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Dudley Street, the MBTA said in a statement. The suspect began yelling and swearing at the driver, who then asked him to leave the bus.
While leaving the bus, the man allegedly spit at the driver several times, according to the statement. The driver closed the front passenger-side door after the man was off of the bus and the suspect allegedly punched the door and shattered the window, the MBTA said.
The bus driver positively identified the suspect as Carlos A. Ramirez-Rodrigue, 38, of Boston, according to the statement.
Police searched the suspect and found a plastic bag in his shorts that contained about 12 grams of a green leafy substance, the MBTA said.
While police were placing the suspect in a safety cell, he allegedly spit at police and hit one officer in the arm, the MBTA said.
Ramirez-Rodrigue is charged with malicious property damage, assault, and two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, according to the statement. He was also issued a $100 citation by MBTA Transit Police for possessing one ounce or less of marijuana.
