Dear Members,
The Executive Board urges all Local 589 members to stand together on April 21 in support of our fellow MBTA operator who was recently assaulted.
The hearing will take place in the morning at the Central Division of the Boston Municipal Court, Edward W. Brooke Courthouse, 24 New Chardon Street, Boston. Nearby MBTA stations are Bowdoin (Blue Line) and Haymarket (Orange Line).
The exact time will be posted that morning. Members are strongly encouraged to arrive by 8:30 a.m. to allow time for security, confirm the courtroom, and ensure a visible presence, as seating may be limited. Members are encouraged to wear their uniforms to present a strong, unified show of support.
This is the first arrest involving an assault on one of our members since the Act Relative to Assault and Battery Upon a Transit Worker (H4645) went into effect on May 6. Your presence sends a clear message: assaults on public transit workers will not be tolerated.
If you have any questions, please contact the union hall at (617) 542-8212.
In solidarity,
Executive Board
Boston Carmen’s Union, Local 589
