Quincy Man Arrested in Newton, Charged with Assaulting MBTA Worker

NEWTON, MA — A Quincy man faces charges after allegedly indecently assaulting an MBTA employee. John Alves, 34, was arrested at the Riverside Green Line Station in Newton. He faces a charge of indecent assault and battery, according to transit police.

On Dec. 28 at about 7:45 p.m. transit police officers responded to a report of an MBTA worker who was assaulted by another person. The victim told police she was on a Green Line trolley to Riverside when a man, identified as Alves, indecently assaulted her. After arriving at the station, Alves exited the train, approached another MBTA employee, and allegedly said, “I just wanted to give her a hug and kiss.”
