Exec. Board Requests Report By Harry Markopolos

Dear Ms. Healey,
2013 AR Annual Cover_0As members of the MBTA Retirement Board (MBTARF), we have read with interest and concern your two articles from Sunday, June 28, 2015 and Monday, June 29, 2015, respectively, describing a “report” authored by, among others, Harry Markopolos casting a negative light on the MBTARF’s financial and actuarial reporting. In order for the MBTARF to properly and fairly respond to the statements made in your stories about the contents of the report, please deliver a copy to MBTARF management and each member of the Retirement Board as soon as possible. If you are not authorized by the authors to release the report for some reason, kindly take all necessary steps to encourage them to provide consent. As I am sure you can appreciate, the Retirement Board is disadvantaged in responding to accusations in a report it has not seen.Sincerely,

James O’Brien, President /BA Boston Carmen’s Union
MBTA Retirement Trustee
James Evers, Financial Secretary/Treasurer Boston Carmen’s Union
MBTA Retirement Trustee
