2011 Scholarships Awarded!

2011 Local 589 Scholarship winners and their families.

Assistant Secretary Peggy LaPaglia, who coordinated the scholarship program, awarded the following winners with scholarships for $1,000 at the annual Mass. AFL-CIO Scholarship Dinner: Matthew Crowley – His sponsor is Frank Crowley who works at Cabot Shops. Marc McDonald – His sponsor is Joseph McDonald who works on the Red Line.

Union Sister Pauline Sims Foils Robbery!

Union Sister Pauline Sims, an MBTA customer service agent, was recently recognized in the news for stopping the robbery of a blind ‘T’ performer named George Leh at the Arlington ‘T’ Station.
