the gas tax increasing for all in massachusetts would be an unfair tax to those not being serviced by the MBTA.

cities serviced by the MBTA need to pay a greater share of the costs.

transist riders need to pay more for this service if the MBTA is to survive .costs of the power to drive the MBTA have increased since the last fare increase. the fare must reflect this.

making smart purchases , instead of the low bidder of poor quality, this then , would help in reducing costs required to maintain the equipment.

Ed Kelly is a good choice, anyone that stood up to Menino and his cronies deserves a place to hopefully continue to speak for the working people.

" President Lee also noted that the US Department of Labor is reviewing funding for federally sponsored transportation projects because of unintended consequences of Transportation Reform. "

If the loss of funding for transit projects is real, the law will be changed concerning the past agreements between our union and the MBTA mangement.

with no bargaining rights and no input on GIC rates and coverage we will loose all that was gained over a hundred years of our unions existance.

What rights do we have? Should we refuse to fill out the forms and send them in? as they didn't bargain at all? If we do does that end all as we seem to agree with them? If they can change our benefits anytime they want, and for any reason can we change our options to help take the shock of what they want? The state will save $33 Million on the backs of the workers- do they take into condition that some of these workers have a small pension and that taking $4500 (a year net) (Medicare - Premiums) will put them in a hole that they can't get out of? Paying a fair share is ok, and probably the right thing to do if they do it the right way, and take everything into consideration.

I believe section 13 [c] protections of the collective bargaining rights as well as the other listed protections will not prevent the state from enacting this attack against our rights. what can occur however is the federal goverment CAN sue the state for all the grant funds given. also prevent any more funds for our transist system.

with retires now retired, I believe this cannot be changed. courts in the past have in most all cases prevented any changes to the benefits given to past retired workers.
