State House Rally to Keep the T Public!

make-your-voice-heardJoin Local 589’s executive board, members, and retirees for a rally this Monday (4/27) at 9:00 AM on the front steps of the Massachusetts State House to keep the T public and to make our voices heard.

A transportation hearing regarding the MBTA’s special panel report is scheduled for 10:00 AM on the same day. Although you will not be able to testify, your presence in the hallways as well as in the hearing will send a strong message.

We also want you to talk to your legislators while you are in the building and let them know the following:

  • FOR YOUR STATE REPRESENTATIVE, ask them support amendment #665 sponsored by Rep.Nick Collins, which will help protect PUBLIC EMPLOYEES at the MBTA and the PUBLIC INTEREST. Keep the T Public!
  • FOR YOUR STATE SENATOR, ask them to CONTINUE supporting the Taxpayer Protection Act (“Pacheco Law”).

In closing, we encourage all retirees as well as those members who are not working at the time of this rally to join us this Monday (4/27) at 9:00 AM on the front steps of the Massachusetts State House. More instructions will be provided at the rally. For any questions, please call the union office at (617) 542-8212.

In solidarity,

Executive Board
Boston Carmen’s Union, Local 589

No phone call, no email.. how are the members supposed to understand whats at stake here… posted on a Friday morning on the website is not enough …..this seems like it should have gotten a little more sincere effort and requests to show up and rally for our livelihood!!

Can we get some kind of abbreviated fact sheet that counters some of the press allegations? I would love to pass a few out at some of the local coffee shops or on the street.

I will be there but I hope everyone knows enough to behave and act with respect. We did something similar many years ago and many of us acted like assholes. This local suffered for years because of it
