Being a member of 589 for 42 years I am so disappointed in this contract. I feel sorry for my brothers and sisters that they havn’t received their raise but as a pensioner, I hope it stays in the courts for years. As long as it is, we still have our medical benefits that were negotiated over the years to take care of the pensioners but lost in this last negotiation. For what, more money?

The union leadership does not respond to the huge multi -billion dollar debt that the MBTA / state government has created over 20 plus years.

I am talking about system improvements/handicap access/equipment etc. This amounts to billions of dollars. the state only pays on the interest , so the debt gets higher . that is why the MBTA has no money , it is not funded.

when the interest rates rise you will then see what I am talking about . this is a time bomb . the union will be blamed for all the unfunded debt and poor management choices over the decades both republican and democrat !

anyone that has worked the MBTA for many years knows that the media loves to create issues that attract interest. they will not get to the heart of the matter . If they [MEDIA] put a person like DAVEY on the “HOT SEAT” and ask him these questions , then they will never get him back to another interview . The action of DAVEY to be on this media campaign is because they are planning to dismantle the union . IMO.

I’m truly disgusted ! It’s so unfair that we have not had a raise in 5 years and as of June 30th 2014 we will be in this same boat again. It’s clear to me that the Beverly Scott ,Secretary of State Davey, and Governor Patrick , do not appreciate the service that we provide to the state 7 days a week ! We continue to honor the “NO STRIKE ” policy , but just think if we did strike for 1 day we would CRIPPLE the state . I do realize that it would be consequences and not everyone would be able to participate , but I just want something to be done ! We endure so much form the disrespectful customers, subpar equipment, rude supervisors, and New England weather . I hope that the judge has the wisdom to side with 589 and give us what is owed. I know that some of you may not agree with me , it’s ok I just wanted to same my peace and wish you all Happy Holidays !

  1. Richard, given ongoing legal proceedings we have been advised by counsel to not respond. Thank you.

I heard on WBZ today that “Davies is blaming the new deficit on a 10% pay raise and back pay the MBTA union was awarded”. This news was given with no explaination of 10% over 5 years and taking some of it away due to higher medical insurance. The public hates us and the union MUST respond to this false statement to the public. This infuriates me that the union does not respond to this.
